  • Demonstrate and explain using chosen artwork file, the differences between the SELECTION TOOL (black arrow) and the DIRECT SELECTION TOOL (white arrow)
  • Demonstrate how to select only a single anchor point in an object.
  • Describe what are NESTED GROUPS and demonstrate how you select a group that is nested.
  • Demonstrate two ways to select multiple objects in an artwork. (hint: shift key, and marque)

Magic Wand Selection Tool (04-02 | 5:22)
  • Demonstrate how you would select similar objects based on their content. (hint: select all leaves that are a similar color)
  • Describe how the TOLERANCE level effects the selections with the magic wand tool.

Lasso Selection Tool (04-03 | 2:28)
  • Select several objects to demonstrate the advantage of using a LASSO selection vs. using a marque selection with the direct selection tool.

Select Same (04-04 | 3:37)
  • Demonstrate how to use SELECT SAME in an Illustrator document with a single menu command to select all the same objects (i.e. all leaves).

Save Selections (04-05 | 2:15)
  • Show how to save and then reload a selection in Illustrator

Selecting Objects Beneath (04-06 | 2:13)
  • Demonstrate how to select objects below other overlapping objects using a keyboard modifier (hint: CMD key)
